Kat "Tigress" Ingersoll is a semi-professional costume artist, based in North Carolina. She taught herself to sew at 10, when she cut up old clothes to make clothes for her Barbie dolls. As she grew up, she moved on to making her own clothes. After earning her Bachelor's degree from NC Central University and working a couple of jobs, Tigress decided she needed a break from being a grown-up and turned her sewing skills to cosplay.

Fellow con-goers liked Tigress's costumes and offered to pay her to make costumes for them. Tigress had always dreamed of owning a business and started KatsPlay in January of 2008. Since then, she's won many awards for her costumes and original designs and has given back to the community by lending her time to conventions via running panels on topics ranging from cosplay to old school anime to convention survival.

Outside of cosplay and conventions, Tigress has a "real" job in IT and plays Magic: the Gathering semi-competitively. She is a 2nd dan in tae kwon do and an active DDR player. She has a husband, Chris, who tolerates her obsessions and sometimes encourages them. She is owned by two calicos, Alice and Fiona.
